Robert Wilson: Engineering Hall of Fame - 2004

Robert Wilson received BS and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State College. He received his MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1956. He began his career at Oregon State College in 1957, and has received the Pi Tau Sigma Outstanding Teaching Award and the College of Engineering Research Award. Wilson has also served as a consultant to many corporations and agencies, including Boeing Vertol, Lloyds of London, the IRS, and the U.S. Dept. of Energy.

He is co-author of the classic textbook Fundamentals of Momentum, Heat and Mass Transfer, which he wrote with professors Welty and Wicks. As an active member of ASME, Wilson served on the Wind Turbine Generator Performance Test Code Committee, the Wind Energy Technical Committee, and was general chairman for the fourth Wind Energy Symposium.
